Dampak negatif dengan adanya frustrasi adalah timbulnya beberapa perilaku yang menyebabkan gangguan fisik dan psikis pada remaja, antara lain:
1.
Pemakaian obat terlarang dan alkohol
Remaja yang dikarenakan ketidakmatangan emosinya seringkali menyelesaikan frustrasi dengan memakai obat terlarang dan alkohol untuk membuat dirinya nyaman. Pemakainan obat terlarang dan alkohol juga untuk menarik perhatian orang lain.
2.
Kenakalan remaja
Frustrasi sering membuat remaja melakukan tindakan kriminal sebagai dampak adanya emosi yang labil sehingga membuat remaja cenderung bersikap agresi.
3.
Kehamilan pada remaja
Frustrasi disebabkan karena seksualitas menyebabkan remaja melakukan free sex yang berdampak kehamilan pada usia muda karena ketidaktahuan remaja akan sex education (misalnya penggunaan kondom pada saat berhubungan sex).
4.
Bunuh diri
Remaja sering kali berpikiran dangkal untuk menyelesaikan frustrasi pada dirinya dengan bunuh diri. Bunuh diri juga dijadikan alat untuk mencari perhatian orang lain karena pada usia remaja kecendrungan untuk mendapat perhatian orang lain sangatlah besar. Remaja menggunakan cara bunuh diri untuk mengatasi frustrasi yang disebabkan penolakan.
5.
Gangguan makan
Minat akan ciri fisik yang ideal menyebabkan remaja mengalami gangguan makan yang disebabkan frustrasi atas minat fisiknya. Remaja cenderung mengidentifikasikan orang yang kurus kering merupakan bentuk tubuh yang ideal sehingga timbul gangguan makan yang sering terjadi pada remaja yaitu bulimia dan anoreksia nervosa.

Cara Mengatasi Dampak Negatif Frustrasi
Untuk mengatasi frustrasi remaja diperlukan kerjasama antara remaja itu sendiri, orang tua, sekolah bahkan pemerintah. Adapun cara mengatasinya, antara lain:

Remaja

Menerima keadaan fisiknya
Perubahan fisik yang begitu pesat sering kali membuat remaja frustrasi karena tidak siap dengan hal tersebut. Untuk itu remaja harus dapat menerima keadaan fisiknya untuk mengatasi frustrasi.

Mampu bergaul
Kemampuan bergaul yang baik akan membantu remaja mengatasi penolakan terutama penolakan kelompok teman sebaya.

Menemukan model untuk identifikasi
Model identifikasi yang baik membantu remaja untuk dapat mencontoh perilaku-perilaku efektif model dalam menghadapi frustrasi (teori imitasi Albert Bandura).

Mengetahui dan menerima kemampuan sendiri
Dengan mengetahui dan menerima kemampuan diri dapat menghindarkan remaja atas cita-cita yang tidak realistis yang menjadi penyebab frustrasi.

Memperkuat penguasaan diri atas dasar skala nilai dan norma
Penguasaan diri atas norma membantu remaja tersebut untuk mengerti tentang pentingnya suatu aturan sosial sebagai cara mengatasi kenakalan remaja.

Meninggalkan reaksi dan cara penyesuaian kekanak-kanakan
Remaja diupayakan untuk dapat menyesuaikan dirinya kearah kedewasaan dengan meninggalkan perilaku kekanak-kanakan agar kebingungan identitas dapat segera teratasi.

Orang tua

Menunjukkan kasih sayang dan empati terhadap remaja
Kasih sayang dan empati dapat membantu frustrasi remaja atas penerimaan oleh lingkungan sosialnya.

Membantu remaja menempuh jalan diferensiasi atas ‘need’ dan ‘want’
Dengan membantu remaja dalam diferensiasi konsep ‘need dan ‘want’ akan membantu remaja dalam penyesuain diri untuk kedewasaan dan meninggalkan perilaku kekanak-kanakan.

Menyisihkan waktu untuk berbicara pada remaja tanpa menekan remaja
Dengan menyisihkan waktu untuk remaja akan membuat adanya rasa penerimaan sosial dan remaja dapat menumpahkan segala sesuatu yang menjadi penyebab frustrasi diri pada orang tuannya.

Membantu remaja menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri
Dengan adanya kebebasan berpendapat dalam keluarga yang demokrasi dapat menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri remaja untuk menghadapi frustrasi pada dirinya.

Pendidikan seks yang tepat untuk remaja
Pendidikan seks yang tepat dari orang tua dapat memuaskan keingintahuan remaja atas seksualitas dan mencegah timbulnya kehamilan pada usia muda.

Sekolah

Hargai kebutuhan remaja akan penyaluran fisik
Dengan mengurangi pengajaran dengan cara duduk atau memberikan ceramah dapat mengatasi frustrasi remaja atas kebutuhan untuk selalu aktif karena tenaga dan semangat remaja sangatlah besar.

Memberikan penyaluran untuk kreativitas
Dengan memberikan variasi tugas dapat memberikan suatu pelajaran kreativitas remaja dalam meghadapi frustrasi. Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler juga dapat mebantu pembentukan kreativitas remaja.

Berikan aturan yang jelas tentang bolos sekolah, penggunaan obat-obatan terlarang dan tindak kekerasan
Aturan yang jelas dan mengikat atas bolos sekolah dan penggunaan obat terlarang akan membentuk kedisiplinan remaja sehingga mencegah penggunaan obat-obatan terlarang
